Staff Accountant

Ledgent is currently hiring a Staff Accountant in East Tampa. We're focused on people who are interested in exposure, growth and team collaboration. You will directly support the Controller and CFO for a growing company and assist in the day-to-day functions, along with the development of the department growth. Key Responsibilities

Month-End Close & General Accounting

• Perform and review month-end closing activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial results.
• Prepare, analyze, and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and account reconciliations.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Conduct balance sheet and P&L variance analysis.

AP & AR Oversight

• Oversee daily Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable operations to ensure accuracy and proper workflow.
• Review AP/AR aging reports and engage with internal teams to resolve issues.
• Support process improvements to enhance AP/AR efficiency and accuracy.

Additional Responsibilities

• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and providing documentation.
• Assist with lease accounting (ASC 842) including recording lease entries, maintaining schedules, and ensuring compliance.
• Maintain adherence to internal controls and accounting policies.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the accounting function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2-5 years of professional accounting experience; public accounting experience a plus.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and standard accounting practices.
• Experience with month-end close, journal entries, and financial statement preparation required.
• Working knowledge of AP and AR processes.
• Lease accounting (ASC 842) experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
