Staff Accountant

Overview

Staff Accountant role focuses on sales/accommodations tax filings, bank reconciliations, and cross-team accounting support. This position reports to a Divisional Controller.

Work location:

In office with possible hybrid schedule

• 2-year college degree in accounting or related major and 3+ years of equivalent work experience
• Previous tax experience preferred
• Knowledge of general ledger and month end financial period close a plus
• Must be well-rounded in accounts receivable; previous experience with accounting software such as Quick Books, Sage, etc
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; must be able to interact patiently, tactfully, and diplomatically with internal and external teams

• Overall ownership of sales/accommodations taxes for multiple states & counties
• Ensure compliance by maintaining business licenses up to date
• Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring proper account allocation
• Perform monthly reconciliations of all assigned balance sheet accounts including bank reconciliation and general banking functions
• Demonstrate the ability to proactively identify problems by doing basic G/L research and generate solutions
• Ensure all required deadlines are met
• Assist with overall support and back up for the accounting team as well as supporting operations as needed

• Must be able to work independently on multiple tasks under minimal supervision, making appropriate progress towards deadlines
• Makes sound judgments quickly and maintains the highest degree of confidentiality
• Able to effectively handle complex issues, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
