I am currently representing a growing glazing specialist in the Tampa area who are looking for a Project Accountant.
You will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting for projects, including the preparation and review of Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, job cost reports, and related reconciliations.
ABOUTTHE ROLE
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in project or construction accounting
, including significant experience with Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting. - Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Quick Books and Microsoft Office Suite
.
Experience with project management software like Procore and Smartsheet is a plus. - Accounting Knowledge: A solid understanding of both accrual and cash-basis accounting and a strong grasp of bookkeeping and financial reporting principles.
- Analytical

Excellent mathematical aptitude and the ability to work with numbers accurately. The capacity to analyze situations from multiple perspectives and present well-supported solutions. - Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and management.
- Organizational

Exceptional organizational, time-management, and follow‑up skills
, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Prepare and analyze monthly Work in Progress (WIP) schedules to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Generate detailed job reports for project managers, operations, and finance leadership to support informed decision‑making.
- Track project costs and revenues, performing accurate job costing and margin analysis to assess profitability.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for projects.
- Manage month‑end closing activities for projects, including reconciling balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Review job costs for accuracy and completeness, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
- Reconcile project‑related data between accounting systems (like Quick Books) and project management platforms (such as Procore and Smartsheet).
- Prepare and process monthly billing, including AIA applications, service contracts, and other project‑specific invoices.
- Manage accounts receivable, including collections and the accurate recording of customer payments.
- Work within various payment portals to complete project‑related accounting and reporting tasks.
- Prepare lien releases and handle project‑related compliance requirements.
