Assistant Controller - Insurance

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and statutory accounting principles (SAP)
• Assist in the preparation of NAIC and state regulatory filings.
• Analyze financial results and provide insights to senior management.
• Oversee the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Ensure compliance with insurance regulatory requirements and statutory reporting standards.
• Support internal and external audits, including coordination with auditors and examiners.
• Assist in developing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
• Implement and maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting; identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and professional development.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA designation highly preferred.
• At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including a minimum of 5 years within the property and casualty insurance sector.
• Comprehensive understanding of Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) and solid experience with US GAAP.
• Proven ability to lead teams, think strategically, and deliver impactful presentations.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
