Job Summary
Sister/charge Nurse – Band 6 – 37.5 Hours
An opportunity has arisen to join our busy critical care unit as a band 6 sister/charge nurse. We are a 9‑bed unit caring for level 2 and 3 patients and we engage closely with the north west critical care network. As a team leader you will be responsible for ensuring the highest care is maintained while supporting the band 7 sister/charge nurse.
KeyDuties
- Act as a clinical team leader, assuming accountability for managing, coordinating and supervising the total service within the unit for level 2 and 3 care patients.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, always acting in accordance with the NMC Code of professional conduct and trust policies.
- Develop and implement local policies, procedures and guidelines and participate fully as a member of the critical care unit management team.
- Provide team leading and management of a busy critical care unit, supervising juniors and learners within a multidisciplinary team and ensuring adherence to safe guidelines and hospital policies.
- RGN with current NMC registration.
- ENB 998 or equivalent or working towards ENB 998.
- Evidence of critical care skills B6 and experience in ITU or HDU as a senior staff nurse.
- Evidence of professional leadership and excellent communication skills.
- ENB 100 or GMCC course.
- Ability to work as a team.
- More than 2 years experience working on critical care.
- Previous experience acting up as a band 6.
- Evidence of participation in service development/change management.
