We have an opportunity for aChildren, Young People and Families Practitioner to join the organisation on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Children, Young People and Families Service Manager, the Children, Young People and Families Practitioner will be responsible for providing initial discussions with children, young people and their families, creating a safe environment to explore mental health related concerns and collaboratively decide on necessary support.

You will predominantly be supporting families with children aged 8-18 who are experiencing conflict, relationship and communication difficulties to work through their challenges, using creative solution focused activities. You will use your knowledge, experience and skills to build relationships, provide a range of person-centred interventions and manage a caseload. You may also be required to support through psycho-education, therapeutic groups, assemblies and workshops.

You will be responsible for identifying and responding to risk and safeguarding situations, following organisational policy and procedure. Communicating effectively with your team, manager and external services will be a key component of your duties.

To be considered for this role, we are looking for experienced candidates that can draw upon their knowledge, lived experience and education that informs person-centred and solution focused practice to support the mental health and wellbeing of children, young people and their families. You will be passionate, enthusiastic and experienced in liaising with other professionals. You will be committed to providing positive outcomes and achieving organisational aims

You will ideally have experience in holding a caseload of families and you will bring a flexible approach, with the ability to respond and adapt to families’ needs. You will bring strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships, foster collaboration and communicate empathically with families.

You will bring knowledge and understanding of the Health and Social Care sector and be committed to cross sector working to bring about positive change for the young people and families you support. You will be able to demonstrate active listening and curiosity skills and value preventative strategies in supporting mental health and wellbeing.
