Teaching Personnel are recruiting for Pastoral Support Assistants to work across secondary schools in Tameside and the surrounding areas. These roles are perfect for individuals passionate about supporting students’ wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development in a secondary school environment.
The successful candidates will work closely with the school’s pastoral and teaching teams to provide behaviour support, guidance, and mentorship for students. You will assist with monitoring behaviour, supporting interventions, liaising with parents/carers, and contributing to care plans, helping to create a positive and safe school environment.
We welcome applications from graduates, care workers, TAs, youth workers, and applicants with no prior experience, as long as you have empathy, confidence, a passion for working with young people, and safeguarding knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting secondary school students with behaviour, social and emotional development
Assisting with behaviour management and interventions for individuals or groups
Supporting teachers and pastoral staff with monitoring, reporting, and recording behaviour incidents
Liaising with parents/carers, teachers, and external agencies as required
Promoting positive relationships and engagement among students
Supervising students during lessons, breaks, and school activities as needed
Contributing to pastoral programs and initiatives within the school
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with young people in a secondary school, youth work, care, or similar setting (preferred but not essential)
Strong behaviour management skills or a willingness to develop them
Confidence to step in and support students independently
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Empathy, patience, and the ability to build trust with students
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to promoting student welfare

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
