The post holder will provide support to the Deputy Directorate Manager in the operational delivery and performance management of the Ward Clerk and A&E administrative services ensuring key targets are maintained and sustainedp>
Main duties of the jobThis role will be responsible for day‑to‑day management of all Ward Clerks and A&E based administration staff, supporting clinical staff in the delivery of services. The post holder will work with clinical teams to ensure services have the administrative workforce with the capacity and skills necessary to support and deliver high‑quality services. The post holder will manage these departments independently, in line with service requirements and local/national policies.
The successful candidate will have experience and knowledge in managing large operational teams.
The successful candidate will be well organised, able to prioritise work, and will manage services that run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This requires a flexible approach to working hours across the week, and the ability to devise rotas and systems to meet workload demands and short‑notice leave.
As part of this role, you will support the manager and staff to review, develop and implement processes and systems. Excellent written and communication skills, strong organisational ability, and line‑management responsibilities are essential. You will need to be calm, patient, and possess an excellent customer‑service manner.
