Your Specific Responsibilities:
This is a para-professional healthcare support position responsible for serving clients in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) in Leon County, which includes, Franklin, Jefferson, Madison, Taylor, and Wakulla Counties. Services include eligibility determination, anthropometrics and hemoglobin testing, issuance of Electronic Balance Transfer (EBT) cards and issuance of program benefits. This position also schedules client appointments, assists clients with completion of nutrition questionnaires, and provides low risk second nutrition education contacts (newsletters).
Duties:
* Performs accurate weights, measures and hemoglobin tests as needed for certification of WIC clients. Performs follow-up weights, measures and hemoglobin tests for high risk WIC clients as directed by the WIC nutritionists. Information is recorded in the FL-WISE System.
* Responsible for keeping clinics and all equipment and supplies organized, stocked and in operating order. Calibrates scales, length and height boards and equipment for measurement of hemoglobin. Performs clerical duties such as pulling and preparation of WIC clients' medical and immunization records for clinic and telephoning clients concerning certification appointments.
* Obtains relevant health information from the WIC clients. Collects and completes medical information as appropriate for immunization and WIC reports when needed.
* Assists with the voter registration process.
* Interviews clients applying for the WIC program to determine financial eligibility. Reviews clients' proof of income and enters data into FL-WISE System for all clients. Verifies clients Medicaid and food stamp status. Explain rights and obligations of the WIC program to the client. Obtains necessary medical and/or WIC records and issues /VOC cards for clients receiving WIC services.
* Issues WIC EBT card, food benefits and /VOC card. Instructs clients on EBT use and redemption procedures. Follows established protocol to provide nutrition education newsletters and nutrition classes to clients. Documents nutrition contact in WIC computer system.
* Maintains accountability for all issuance supplies.

Performs other related duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to provide customer service consistent with WIC program regulations.
Ability to provide basic nutrition lesson as assigned (script provided).
Ability to perform anthropometric (length, height, weight) measurements.
Ability to perform hemoglobin testing.
Competent keyboard skills.
Ability to learn FL-WISE data system.
Ability to learn DOH software applications.
Ability to use calculator.
Ability to maintain Florida driver's license.
Ability to provide own transportation.
Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
Ability to interact professionally with the public.
Qualifications:
Minimum - Valid Driver License
Preferred - High School Diploma or equivalent.

Emergency Duty:
Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.
