Overview
State Income Tax Manager role ation:
Open Location / Anywhere in Country. EY is seeking a professional to apply knowledge to state income tax across a variety of clients and industries, with opportunities for career progression and mentorship within a diverse, global firm.
- Oversee state-level tax projects, including compliance and related research.
- Lead and direct a team in managing state tax compliance and advisory services for clients.
- Provide complex tax review, research, planning and consulting services to diverse clients, including federal and state tax regulations.
- Lead or assist with various tax planning, research, and special projects.
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual state income tax provisions.
- Model state income tax benefits and consequences using tools such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI or Alteryx.
- Write tax technical memos articulating issues, conclusions, and analyses on state tax matters.
- Develop and mentor staff to foster a collaborative team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related discipline; approximately six years of related work experience.
- High proficiency in state income tax code, regulations, and procedures.
- Proven track record in a professional services or tax organization.
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
- Ability to analyze client data and guidance to make recommendations to engagement teams.
- Ability to prioritize multiple complex projects.
- Strong influencing skills with the confidence to improve processes.
- Willingness to travel as needed and to work in a balanced hybrid environment.
- CPA qualification (achieved or partially achieved), certification from the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, or eligibility to sit for/state bar membership.
