Responsibilities
The Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics at Florida State University invites applications for a 9-month salaried Teaching Faculty I position in the French language program beginning August 2026.
The candidate will be expected to lead the French Language House on campus by coordinating traditional and linguistic enrichment activities and teach three courses per semester primarily in the basic French language sequence, but may also teach at any assigned level and provide instructional support for the basic language program.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a doctorate or highest-level terminal degree from an accredited institution in French language, literature, linguistics, or related field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, as well as native or near native proficiency in French and English.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who have training in second language pedagogy, and/or assessment, second language acquisition, familiarity with ACTFL proficiency guidelines, OPI and other types of assessment. Applicants are required to show familiarity with contemporary approaches to communicative language teaching.
