Georgia-Pacific is now hiring a Maintenance Technician to join our Lumber facility in Talladega, AL.
Salary- Starting pay: $27-33/hr depending on experience.
- $5.00/hour shift premium for any hours worked Friday–Sunday (overtime rules apply).
- Compensation can increase based on skills and contribution to overall performance.
- Flexible and available to work any shift, including overtime, holidays, weekends.
- 12‑hour rotating shift (rotates monthly).
- Orientation week: 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday. Regular shift assigned after orientation.
Weekends, Thursday–Sunday, 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.

What You Will Do- Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures and actively participate in the safety program.
- Support operations efficiency through troubleshooting and maintaining manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Perform periodic proactive asset strategies, such as maintenance routes, preventative maintenance, and other tasks to improve reliability and uptime.
- Install and repair mechanical drives, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, belts, and couplings.
- Maintain and troubleshoot pneumatic systems, control devices, hydraulic equipment, circuits, and components.
- Work with operations and maintenance teams to identify and prioritize maintenance needs.
- Use pipe fitting skills to weld, cut, fit, and install piping throughout the facility.
- Assist operators or crew members with machine start-up, shutdown, or clean up.
- Research parts in equipment manuals and submit work orders in a computerized maintenance management program.
- Communicate daily work performed and machine conditions via written and verbal documentation.
- Experience performing installation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial equipment.
- Experience in hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems and components.
- Able to read and interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints and schematics.
- Associate degree or higher in Industrial Technology or related degree and at least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, or 5 years equivalent experience.
- Working knowledge of precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings, lubrication systems, and pumps.
- Mechanical maintenance experience, including fluid handling and conveyor systems, hydraulic systems and accumulators, valve identification and application, and welding.
- Experience with a CMMS.
