Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with certification in Secondary Social Studies Grades 6-12
Essential Job Functions:
- Teacher’s responsibility as a citizen: Teach respect and allegiance to the United States, produce an enlightened citizenry, provide opportunities for responsible decision making, develop critical thinking, stress individual responsibility, and instill good citizenship.
- Understanding of children and concern for them: Evaluate evidence, recognize interests and anxieties, develop a sense of security, motivate students, be fair, and respect diversity.
- Classroom planning: Maximize learning, prepare lesson plans, apply child growth principles, organize work, ensure understanding, challenge students, and experiment with new techniques.
- Classroom atmosphere: Create purposeful activity, stimulate thinking and evaluation, maintain a conducive environment, foster respect, and prohibit put-downs.
- Professional attitude: Collaborate with colleagues, volunteer for extracurricular activities, attend workshops, pursue professional growth, accept improvement suggestions, re-evaluate teaching, join associations, and perform additional duties as directed.
- Personal standards: Good health, clean appearance, prompt attendance, breadth of interest, self‑control, good judgment, leadership, forcefulness, scholarship, honesty, adaptability, enthusiasm, open mindedness, industry, cooperation, and consideration.
- Other responsibilities: Keep records accurately, follow administrative policies, work with parents and community, participate in school activities, and perform duties assigned by the principal.
Days: 175 days, 7½ hours/day plus 5 professional days.
Hours:
2 hours sitting, 3 hours standing, 2½ hours walking.
Wages:
Certified Salary Schedule ($42,051 PNA).
Fringes: per negotiated agreement. Vacation: N/A.
Physical RequirementsMotion: occasional and frequent for bending, squatting, climbing or climbing height, reaching, crouching, pushing/pulling.
Lifting: 10–100+ pounds, occasional and frequent.
Repetitive movement: no feet repetition; hands – simple, firm, full grasping as required.
