Position: At Large Language Instructor Assistant (Grant Funded)

Overview

Serves as assistant to At-Large Language Instructor. Helps with implementing Cherokee language curriculum for use in online and in-person language classes for at-large communities.

Responsibilities
  • Helps schedule classes for at-large communities for online and in-person attendance.
  • Helps keep track of class completion rates to successfully issue certificates of completion.
  • Physically arranges the room and equipment for teaching sessions.
  • Helps prepare handouts, brochures, and/or booklets for training sessions.
  • Assists with audio/video and/or other language technology equipment. Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory

No supervisory responsibility.

Qualifications
  • Educational Requirement
    :
    Completion of Cherokee Language Master Apprentice Program preferred, if not a First Language Cherokee speaker; or one year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience Requirement
    :
    An additional one (1) year of experience in a related field.
  • Computer Skills
    :
    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software and Word Processing software. Experience with online classroom instruction and software including, but not limited to, Zoom, Web Ex, Google Classroom, or any other similar platform.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
    :
    Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Must be a certified Cherokee Language Instructor as certified by the Cherokee Nation Language Department or certified by Oklahoma State Department of Education.
  • Other Qualifications
    :
    The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
