Overview
Fencing+ Instructors deliver safe, engaging and confidence-building fencing sessions for children aged 4-14. Using Barracudas' specialist training and resources, they create a fun and structured environment where children can learn new skills, develop coordination and enjoy a unique activity experience. Through clear instruction, strong supervision and a positive approach, Fencing+ Instructors help every child feel safe, supported and excited to take part.
Responsibilities- Set up and maintain activity areas, ensuring they are tidy, inviting and safe for all children.
- Follow all policies and procedures to ensure a safe, enjoyable environment throughout the day.
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate fencing sessions, using Barracudas training and guidance.
- Use the Team building manual to deliver additional structured sessions where required.
- Provide clear safety instructions and demonstrations, ensuring children understand and follow all rules.
- Actively supervise children at all times, including during transitions, breaks and lunch periods.
- Encourage participation and engagement, supporting children to build confidence and try new skills.
- Work collaboratively with supporting staff, guiding them during sessions as needed.
- Complete all required paperwork for Fencing+ sessions accurately and on time.
- Check and maintain fencing equipment regularly, reporting issues promptly.
- Uphold safeguarding responsibilities, reporting concerns immediately to the Senior Team or Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Maintain a tidy site, ensuring equipment is stored safely and appropriately.
- Ensure the safe use of all equipment throughout every session.
- Support additional camp activities, including Skills Builder sessions (where required) and swimming sessions - you'll need to bring swimwear and a spare t-shirt will be available at camp.
- Completion of the 1-day Fencing+ training course.
- Confident leading structured activity sessions and giving clear instructions.
- Strong communication skills with a calm, positive and enthusiastic approach.
- Able to supervise groups safely and respond appropriately to unexpected situations.
- Organised, proactive and able to use initiative when preparing and delivering sessions.
- Comfortable enforcing safety rules and maintaining a controlled environment.
- Able to build positive relationships and encourage participation from children of varied ages.
- A proactive approach to safeguarding, inclusion and wellbeing.
- Experience working with children in schools, clubs or holiday camps.
- Experience delivering fencing, physical activities, sports or team-based sessions.
- Experience supporting children with additional needs.
- Paediatric First Aid qualification.
- Safeguarding training or certificate.
Employment in this role is subject to completing all pre-employment requirements, including being aged 18 or over by the start date, providing proof of eligibility to work in the UK, supplying satisfactory references, and holding or obtaining an Enhanced DBS check. All staff must complete mandatory training, including online modules, an in-person Induction Training Day and any additional role-specific briefings delivered by Central Office.

Salary: £504.76- £588.14 salary per week (dependent on age, experience and qualifications)
