Who we are

As the UK’s leading beer, cider and pub business, we’re home to some of the world’s best-loved beers and ciders, and a leading player in the international drinks industry.

We're the name behind a host of brilliant brands, from Inch’s to Birra Moretti and many more. And with around 2,400 pubs to our name in the UK, our Star Pubs business is all about putting pubs at the centre of community life.

But we’re more than just great beers and ciders – we’re a place where passion meets purpose, careers are crafted as carefully as our brews, and enjoyment of life is part of the job.

About the role

As a Quality Analyst, reporting into the Laboratory Manager, you’ll play a central role in carrying out various activities within our labs to support our brilliantly brewed products. This includes carrying out microbiological, analytical, packaging appearance & flavour analyses as well as maintaining & calibrating equipment utilised in the labs. You’ll also contribute to our TPM journey by providing opportunities for process improvements and quality improvements of our products.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety standards in all laboratory activities.
  • Adhere to Lab Star/ISO systems and Group Quality standards.
  • Conduct sampling and analysis of raw materials, in-process beer and finished products, including microbiological, chemical, sensory and packaging assessments using appropriate laboratory equipment and techniques.
  • Manage sample receipt, processing and dispatch in line with laboratory procedures, including coordination with external laboratories and suppliers.
  • Operate and maintain yeast culturing processes.
  • Maintain, calibrate and verify laboratory equipment (on-line and off-line) across site and satellite laboratories to ensure compliance with Lab Star/ISO standards.
  • Use LIMS for accurate data management, reporting and trend analysis; provide training and advanced system support where required.
  • Interpret results, present findings at site reviews and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
  • Provide technical expertise in microbiological and analytical matters, supporting production teams and continuous improvement initiatives, including TPM and 5S activities.
  • Support investigations relating to product or packaging queries and conduct audits in line with Group and site audit plans.
  • Deputise for the Sensory Analyst when required.
About the team

You’ll be based in the Quality team, whose job is to ensure every single drop of our ciders and beers is packed with the consistent, tongue-tantalising taste that we all know and enjoy. The team is also at the centre of ensuring compliance throughout our cider & beer-making process as well as championing our safety principles.
