Maritime|253 is seeking experienced industry professionals to serve as teachers in our Port Operations & Logistics Pathway. This role is designed for individuals who have worked in ports, terminals, transportation systems, maritime operations, logistics, or aviation environments.
This position supports instruction across port operations, logistics systems, transportation, maritime operations, and regulatory environments, with an emphasis on technology‑enabled, safety‑critical, and interconnected systems that define modern ports and logistics networks.
CTE Certification & V-Code AlignmentQualified Candidates May Hold Or Be Eligible To Obtain Certification Under One Or More Of The Following Washington State CTE V-Codes, Depending On Course Assignment And Experience
- V490300 – Transportation, Distribution & Logistics
- V210100 – Technology Education
- V470600 – Industrial Operations
- V470608 – Transportation Systems & Operations
- V490100 – Aviation / Transportation Operations
This pathway spans multiple V‑codes. Candidates with significant industry experience may be eligible through business and industry certification routes.
What You’ll Teach (Evolving Scope)- Port and terminal operations, including vessel support and cargo movement
- Logistics and supply chain systems across maritime, ground, and air transportation
- Transportation operations, scheduling, and coordination
- Maritime operations, navigation basics, and regulatory environments
- Aviation and intermodal transportation systems
- Safety, compliance, and risk management in operational environments
- Use of digital tools, data systems, and emerging technologies in logistics and port operations
- Human‑systems interaction in safety‑critical, high‑reliability environments
- Port and terminal operations
- Maritime transportation and vessel operations
- Logistics, supply chain, and distribution systems
- Intermodal transportation (marine, rail, truck, air)
- Aviation operations and ground systems
- Port authorities, transportation agencies, or regulatory bodies
- Defense, energy, or global trade logistics environments
- Significant industry experience aligned to one or more V‑codes listed above
- Experience in operational environments where coordination, safety, and systems thinking matter
- Comfort adapting to changing technologies, regulations, and operational models
- Strong safety culture and attention to compliance
- Interest in mentoring students toward employment, apprenticeships, and postsecondary pathways
