Assistant Coach Baseball - Silas

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking an assistant head coach for the 2026 spring session, effective 2/26/2026. Salary level is $19.22 per hour. This position is not benefits eligible.

• Supervise student athletes to promote effective student learning through participation in athletic activities.
• Assist the head coach in preparing athletes both physically and mentally to participate with confidence and self-assurance in athletic contests; administer discipline when necessary in a fair and consistent manner; emphasize safety precautions; provide opportunities for each participant to achieve some success.
• Assist in overseeing practice sessions that are both stimulating and instructive, and conducted on a regular daily basis with the idea of developing the athlete’s greatest potential; teach basic fundamental skills of the sport; emphasize and promote good sportsmanship in the conduct of team members and coaches; abide by regulations in the Coaches’ Handbook.
• Follow district procedures for handling injuries.
• Oversee the issuing equipment; maintain records including dates and times of issuance; assure the systematic return of all equipment, the cleaning and storing of equipment; perform weekly safety check for all equipment; hold students responsible for lost equipment; complete inventory lists and provide copies to the building athletic director.

• Attend all district and building athletic meetings as called by building athletic director and/or district athletic director.
