The Tacoma Rescue Mission (TRM) is a faith-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to support all people - including clients, volunteers, community partners, and staff - to become their best. We provide emergency services such as shelter and meals to neighbors experiencing homelessness. Job PurposeAssists the Men's New Life Program Manager in operation of a faith-based addiction recovery program; provides direct service to program participants, including case management, recovery coaching, support, and crisis intervention through a trauma-informed, person-first, and grace-based lens.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Proactively assists in supervision of clients in the Men's New Life Program.
- Participates in interviewing, pre-screening, and intakes with clients.
- Mentors and supports New Life Program and Applied Living Program Participants.
- Provides administrative support by assisting with tracking of volunteer hours, documenting and tracking client program compliance and program schedule planning.
- Oversees room inspections/searches, and conducts intake searches of NLP client belongings.
- Administers drug and alcohol testing for clients, including collecting urine samples for testing.
- Completes incident reports, maintenance work requests and other reports as needed.
- Drives 12-passenger van to transport clients for various program functions.
- Assists in holding clients accountable to program goals and standards.
- Carries case load of program participants, maintaining appropriate client file documentation, including case notes.
- Assists clients with barrier reduction, using a navigation model.
- Stays current on housing resources for individuals needing low-income housing.
- Assists men and families with housing transition plans.
- Supports NLP management with crucial conversations, helps with client corrective action meetings, and support goal setting.
- Aids in crisis intervention as needed.
- Assists with overseeing safety and cleanliness of the facility.
- Collaborates on the planning and implementation of program activities, including field trips.
- Leads community meetings, support groups and Bible studies when requested by the manager.
- Coordinates services with necessary TRM Departments and outside agencies, maintaining good relationships and assisting participants in accessing community resources.
- Keeps the manager informed on the progress of participants.
- Embodies the values that form our culture to meet the organization’s mission of sharing God’s love, hope, and support with our neighbors in need to uplift communities.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support others and ensure an efficient and effective work environment.
Interacts in a relational manner with people from diverse backgrounds. Office, classroom, and apartment environments with light custodial duties. Some travel in the community to support the needs of the program.
Schedule and Work LocationSchedule:
Tuesday-Saturday 9am-5pm
On-call as needed with possible weekends and some evenings.
