Help
- Provide comprehensive professional nursing care to OB/GYN patients and their newborns with medical conditions ranging from routine care to those having complex complications requiring sophisticated, highly technical care and treatment.
- Conduct an advanced level of specialized obstetrical and gynecological nursing care to patients based on a provider s medical care plan and the physical, mental, and emotional needs of the patient and family.
- Serve as Charge Nurse on a rotational basis.
- Perform procedures, treatments, and medication administration.
- Participate in continuing education programs to update and/or maintain skills and knowledge to meet annual requirements.
- Coordinate case management needs with the case and outcomes management team.
- Provide sufficient information to patients, parents, on pre- and post- admission and/or operative education, disease process and complications, and medication administration.

Conditions of employment- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 30 pounds is required.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill non-privileged professional credential requirements.
- Must maintain a valid, unrestricted, and current registered nurse license (with no limitations, stipulations, or pending adverse actions) in a state or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia.
- Must rotate shifts, work weekends, and holiday, and assume on call status in support of unit contingency plan.
- This position is deemed Mission Essential
- Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting and remain on duty during phased or early release (CONUS).
