Local Contract Nurse Practitioner - Cardiovascular​/Cardiothoracic Surgery

Lance Soft is seeking a Nurse Practitioner Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery for a local contract job in Tacoma, Washington.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with pre and post operative patient evaluation and treatment
• OR First assist
• Coronary artery bypass and all valve surgeries
• Aortic reconstruction and aortic arch reconstruction
• Robotic assisted thoracic surgeries
• Endoscopic vein harvest
• Open radial artery harvest
• Minimally invasive valves
• VATS and DaVinci Robot Thoracic Procedures
• Thoracic and fore-gut procedures
• ICU & Step-down management
• Emergent procedures on the floor as required. (Chest tube insertions, arterial line insertions etc.)
• Daily rounds
• Discharge summaries
• Call every 6th night and every 6th weekend
• Pre-and post-op patients, inpatients and outpatients
• Evening, night and weekend surgeries
• Weekend patient rounds
• Walk-in/urgent clinic visits when primary surgeon is not available
• Clinic wound checks as needed
• 5 perm surgeons on staff (3 cardiac, 2 thoracic)
• 4 mid levels (3 PA, 1 NP and 1 in training)

Cases- 6-8 hearts/week, 9-12 thoracic/week

Schedule/Availability Requirements:

M-F 3-4 days calls & a 1:4 weekend call. Hours are variable, but in general. M-F Schedule is mostly , but it is not shift work, some days may go beyond.

If the Provider is on call the hours for that day would likely be 10-12+ hours. Weekend call shifts are variable depending on patient census, but generally 6--8+ hours per weekend day. Call days include carrying a pager for 24 hours.
