Nursing Assistant role at Defense Health Agency located at Madigan Army Medical Center
, Tacoma, Washington. The incumbent serves as a Nursing Assistant in several areas of a Medical Treatment Facility. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation;

Tacoma is a progressive city between Seattle and Olympia that offers museums, parks, and access to the Puget Sound and Mount Rainier.
Responsibilities- Review electronic health record and documents patient information.
- Obtain vital signs, height, weight, and record data into the electronic health record.
- Recognize abnormal results and report to the nurse in charge or medical provider.
- Set up equipment and instruments and hand instruments to health care providers as required.
- Clean wounds, apply bandages after suturing, assist in removal of sutures, staples, and dressings during examination and treatment.
- Instruct patients and families on proper procedures for laboratory, x‑ray and other diagnostic exams in accordance with established protocols.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsIn order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid, unpaid, and volunteer work. Provide a resume that clearly describes relevant experience; transcripts may be required for education qualifications.
- One year of specialized experience performing nursing care support duties, including obtaining vital signs, setting up equipment, and accurately recording patient data.
- Or a four‑year bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field of study.
- Or a combination of education and experience that meets 100% of the required criteria, calculated by the formula described.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination and a completed background investigation.
- Pre‑employment physical required and annually thereafter.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is required.
- Must be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations and vaccinations (e.g., hepatitis, influenza).
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required with a child‑care background check.
- Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Position is subject to pre‑employment screening and random drug testing; consent to random drug urinalysis testing is required.
