RN – General and Specialty Cardiology Cardiac Study Center/ Pulse Heart Institute, Tacoma, WA

Since its creation, Cardiac Study Center (CSC) has contracted with Pulse Heart Institute for outpatient cardiology and billing services. CSC is a proud partner of Pulse, and has provided outpatient cardiology services in the Puget Sound Region for over 50 years. CSC partnered with Multi Care Health System to create Pulse Heart Institute in 2016 to work toward improving the health of cardiac patients.

Pulse’s standard operating procedure is to employ cardiology, ambulatory and billing support staff at Cardiac Study Center. This structure allows for roles unique to cardiac programs, benefiting our teams in career development and resource needs while caring for our patients. This structure also aims to provide a personal feel for our employees, helping them feel valued.

Pulse offers a variety of career opportunities throughout our clinic locations. If you’re interested, there may be positions open in other sub-specialties (Heart Failure, Vascular, Electrophysiology & Device, or Nuclear Imaging).

Environment and Shift details
:

This role is full-time, 40 hours/week, 8-hour shifts, Monday – Friday—closed weekends and holidays.

Experience

Must-Haves

  • Educational Background
    :
    Completion of an accredited nursing program.
  • Licensing
    :
    An active Washington Registered Nurse License at the time of hire.
  • Certification
    :
    National Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association & Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) obtained before starting.
  • Experience
    : 2 years of RN experience in an outpatient or hospital setting
    • Additional

      Experience:

      Reading and interpreting EKG rhythms, and critical care experience.

  • Specialized Experience
    : 1 year of experience in cardiology, PCU, ICU, or ER/ED

Position Summary

As a Registered Nurse in Cardiac Nuclear & Imaging, your role involves close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to triage abnormal test results, advocate for patients, and ensure timely documentation in health records. You will serve as a liaison among physicians, patients, families, and the broader healthcare community, facilitating optimal care coordination and public relations. Your duties also encompass policy collaboration, problem-solving through the Nursing Process, and direct involvement in cardiac imaging procedures, including stress tests and echocardiograms, with responsibilities for IV access and medication administration.

This position requires a deep understanding of cardiac stress testing protocols and EKG rhythms to deliver safe and effective patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct telephone triage to assess patient needs, prioritize calls based on urgency, and respond promptly to emergent, urgent, and non-urgent inquiries.
  • Develop and deliver individualized patient education programs focused on diagnosis, procedures, and treatment plans to enhance patient understanding and care.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians and healthcare teams to ensure seamless communication and the highest standards of patient care.
  • Serve as a cardiac health resource and educator for office staff and the broader community, promoting awareness and understanding.
