Job Description

Position: Production Team Leader

Reports To: Production Supervisor

Starting pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills and experience between $21.00/hr and $23.00/hr.

Summary

The mission of the Group Leader is to help their team produce a quality product for our customers. They must communicate priority information from all areas of the plant, including daily numbers, safety topics, maintenance and quality issues. They run their shift according to standard procedures to keep the plant operating at optimal efficiency.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of the Supervisor, oversee the activities of all team employees.
  • Perform duties in a safe manner; act as a role model for Safety.
  • Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and providing clear, consistent communication of safety work expectations.
  • Ensure the safety of all team employees by checking their work areas for safety/housekeeping hazards and addressing issues immediately.
  • Report any infractions to their Supervisor.
  • Support and investigate situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
  • Actively lead risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility, driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate or reduce environmental, health or safety risks.
  • Assist Supervisor in conducting preliminary investigations on safety incidents, root‑cause analysis and implementing corrective actions in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Lead all required meetings with safety (e.g., Pre‑shift, Department, General Communication, etc.).
  • Ensure the proper training and development of all assigned employees, using selected safety topics as identified and assigned by the Safety Manager or their immediate Supervisor.
  • Review and document daily safety topic discussions at meetings.
  • Support team goals and objectives. Assist Supervisor with disseminating information and updates to employees.
  • Organize and lead employee‑driven teams to address safety, quality, or other operational issues as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Motivate and coach employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Address complaints and help to resolve problems.
  • Provide input on employee performance appraisals, readiness for promotion, and recommend appropriate candidates. Recommend training as needed.
  • Assist with the retention of appropriate documentation.
  • Attend meetings and provide information to Supervisor in their absence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
