Job Title: Casual Labor Maintenance

Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Director position, assists with the general maintenance and custodial duties for the Grandview Early Learning Center and other locations dependent on GELC activities, such as the Little Wild Wolf Summer Camp. Cleans and routinely maintains building and associated grounds. Ensures that the physical environment is safe and healthy for the care of young children.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs minor building repairs and maintenance
  • Cleans windows inside and outside of building.
  • Daily maintenance of GELC property both inside and outside, for example restrooms, bathrooms, classrooms, offices, kitchen, and restocking all supplies
  • Maintains and cleans outside playgrounds, lawn, stairs parking area, and garage.
  • Picks up and properly disposes of trash, both indoors and outdoors as needed.
  • Mows lawn, edges, and weeds and maintains outdoor areas as directed. Operates tractor, riding mower and maintains gas engine equipment such as, hedgers, weed eaters and leaf blower
  • Sweep and mop/steam classroom and hallway floors
  • Repositions and arranges furniture as directed, ensuring storage areas and furnishings are kept organized, orderly, and properly maintained.
  • Receives supplies and transports them to proper locations or to storage.
  • Sanitizes and disinfects surfaces in all areas, and waste containers.
  • Assists in maintenance of GELC vehicles
  • Reports concerns to Director.
  • Works cooperatively with other Maintenance staff on projects and assignments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Qualifications and Requirements

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

    Education and/or Experience

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months related experience. Knowledge of proper grounds-keeping, landscaping and basic carpentry skills. Working knowledge of how to properly use and maintain maintenance and grounds-keeping tools and equipment. Must pass a criminal background check and other licensing standards for child care. Must have a valid Washington State driver's license, liability insurance, and reliable transportation.

    Note:

    Part-time work is prorated in crediting experience (e.g., if you work 20 hours per week for a 12-month period you will be credited with 6 months of experience).

    Language Skills

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Must attend required Tribal Language classes scheduled throughout the year.

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Licenses or Certificates

    Must have and maintain a valid and unrestricted Washington State driver's license and proof of insurance. Employee must be able to operate a GSA vehicle and comply…
