POSITION SUMMARY:

Puyallup Chocolates is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. This position will play a vital role in helping to manage the plant and equipment program to promote safe and efficient operations throughout the facilities. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for inspecting, monitoring, repairing, and documentation for all facility machinery, systems, tools, and equipment to ensure that all equipment consistently operates in a safe and efficient manner.

Regularly perform preventative service maintenance to minimize repair work and mechanical downtime.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Excellent attendance for all scheduled shifts
  • Perform and supervise in-house and vendor work related to the selection, installation, modification, preventative maintenance, and diagnosis/repair of installed systems, food safety/quality equipment, food production/packaging, and shop/grounds equipment
  • Responsible for conducting regular review of the maintenance team's logged work; delegate and supervise work assignments for assigned department(s)
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate maintenance policies and procedures in coordination with production and QC managers
  • Regularly inspect building, tools, and equipment for any unsafe or malfunctioning conditions, respond timely to emergency repair requests
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory codes and Puyallup Chocolates policies and procedures
  • Provide employee equipment safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules
  • Assist with development and manage of asset management and preventative maintenance programs
  • Maintain operational records, such as time and production records, inventory, repair and maintenance logs, equipment test results, and food safety compliance
  • Participate in budget preparation and administration, coordinating purchasing and documentation, and monitoring departmental expenditures
  • Requisition and order materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment, and replacement parts
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate maintenance policies and procedures in conjunction with plant and QC managers
  • Identify opportunities for improvements, identify potential areas of risk, and promptly share critical business information with key stakeholders to maximize results throughout Puyallup Chocolates
  • Coordinate effective teamwork and use all company resources efficiently to promote superior financial results for Puyallup Chocolates; maintain equipment and assets to maximize ROI
  • Establish and maintain effective business relationships with all employees, vendors, business partners, government/regulatory entities, and communities in which we operate
  • Strictly enforce workplace safety measures; safeguard the welfare of all employees, guests, visitors, and business partners at all times; promptly report workplace risks, incidents, injuries, and near misses; consistently wear and utilize all required PPE
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all sensitive and proprietary business information and safeguard Puyallup Chocolates assets at all times
REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid WA driver's license and good driving record
  • 5+ years similar maintenance work experience
  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude including electrical, mechanical, and PLC systems
  • Good math skills and ability to use manuals, schematics, blueprints, and similar references to perform work functions
  • Able to use hand/power tools and equipment to complete assigned tasks, such as but not limited to lathe, milling machine, drill press, grinders, hand power tools, micrometers, calipers, forklift, scissor lift, welding equipment, measuring tools, hand power tools and a variety of hand tools
  • Understanding of OSHA, USDA, FDA, HAZMAT, HACCP and other applicable food safety regulations
  • Ability to record, analyze, reconcile, and interpret business data; and enter data into business computer systems
  • Ability to problem solve, effectively multi-task, and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Able to work with a sense of urgency when needed and remain focused on delivering timely and effective solutions
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Good PC and MS Office skills

  • Ability to occasionally work non-standard hours to accommodate business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays
