The HR Generalist is responsible for the day-to-day administration and coordination of Human Resources operations. This role supports a broad range of HR functions including recruitment and onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, HRIS management, and compliance. The HR Generalist plays a key role in ensuring HR processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals, while providing exceptional service and support to employees and leaders.
Responsibilities- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified applicants for open positions, partnering closely with department leaders to understand position requirements, desired skills, and core competencies.
- Partners with leadership teams to identify and address workforce needs, providing guidance on employee relations matters and implementing HR initiatives that support employee development, engagement, and retention.
- Collaborates across departments to ensure compliance with organizational policies and employment regulations, promoting consistency, fairness, and equity throughout the organization.
- Conducts background checks and employee eligibility verification.
- Conducts on-boarding for new employees and off-boarding processes including benefit termination and COBRA enrollment.
- Manages new employee orientation and employee recognition programs.
- Maintains all employee-related files including individual personnel files and records.
- Performs and completes employment verification requests and employee referrals.
- Answers and responds to Unemployment claims.
- Manages, administers and tracks Leave of Absence (FMLA, state, personal, and other leaves) ensuring compliance and timely communication with employees and managers.
- Coordinates and assists with annual Open Enrollment, including communication materials, system set-up and employee support.
- Reconciles benefit statements from carriers and facilitate any necessary adjustments.
- Performs human resources related data analysis and research industry best practices.
- May attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resources, files and records.
- Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by keeping human resources and payroll information confidential.
- Assists employees and leadership with interpretation of HR policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc. and refers more complex questions to appropriate PNW Leadership.
- Assists with policy development and annual performance review process.
- Assists with compliance support, as needed, to include but not limited to: ACA compliance, EEO-1 reporting/compliance, OSHA compliance and record keeping.
- Prepares a variety of human resources-related reports as requested.
- Collects timekeeping information and issuing pay and pay-related information to employees.
- Serves as back-up to primary payroll processor.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Must have excellent interpersonal and customer services skills and must have the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with all employees and vendors.
- Must be able to handle highly confidential information with discretion.
- Must have solid office administration skills, be able to maintain files and keep items in a logical and organized manner.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills, and have acuity with detail.
- Must be proficient in latest version of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Excel and Office 365.
- Must have the ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines; must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to establish and maintain professional, productive and courteous interactions with PNW employees and providers.
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or related field - highly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years human resources administrative experience.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems.
- Payroll experience is preferred.
On-site in Tacoma, WA with option to work remotely 1 day per week. Travel to clinic locations as needed.
Pay$71, 508 - $95,264/year. Salary commensurate with experience.
