Wellfound is hiring full time Mental Health Techs for our day position. The position is a .9 FTE, 3x12 hour shifts per week with rotating weekends from 7 am – 7:30 pm. Must be able to work all days of the week.
Wellfound Behavioral Health Hospital is a 120-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital located in Tacoma, Washington. We are Department of Health and Joint Commission accredited. We are an acute care psychiatric hospital providing care to both voluntary and involuntary patients.

Position information:The Mental Health Technician (MHT) functions as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary treatment team responsible for providing a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for psychiatric patients and assist with the provision of basic patient care and recovery needs under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The MHT provides and documents interventions in a variety of modalities individually matched to the needs of each patient.
The MHT provides group as well as individual interaction with patients receiving inpatient psychiatric treatment in adherence with established treatment guidelines and agency policies and procedures.
- Work under the direction of the unit Registered Nurses
- Take vital signs and enter into electronic medical records
- Conduct patient safety searches
- Serve and monitor patient meals
- Assist with patient hygiene
- Log temperature log checks for patient and staff refrigerators
- Maintain clean environment including clean washer, dryer, phones and tables, removing lint and maintaining required logs
- Communicate respectfully with patients, family members and co-workers.
- Provides supportive interactions per patient needs, including running groups on the unit
- Notifies nurse of any change in patient presentation, behavior or condition
- Hourly: NAR license $21.75-$40.34 depending on experience – union position
- Hourly: CNA license $22.82- $42.30 depending on experience – union position

- You will accrue Paid Sick and Safe Leave at 1 hour per 40 hours worked. Paid Sick leave cannot be used until 90 days after your hire date.
- Paid Time Off will be accrued based on hours worked and tenure. You will accrue 0.12 hours of PTO per hours worked until you reach the next level of accrual. PTO cannot be used until 90 days after your hire date with the exception of designated Wellfound holidays.
Education:
- High school or equivalent
- Registered Nursing Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant – must have active to apply
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Food Handler’s Permit through Washington State
- Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor
- One (1) year of direct patient care experience in mental health
