WFSE Article 4.7 Internal Transfer Opportunity – Corrections Specialist
4. Position #DB68, Reentry Division - Domestic Violence Treatment Program.
Location:
Tacoma, WA.
Hours of work are 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Work hours are determined by unit needs and are at the discretion of the unit supervisor. If you are currently working an alternate schedule, this position may not be able to honor that schedule. EligibilityIn accordance with Article 4.7 of the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) 2025-27 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), this job opening is available to internal transfer candidates ONLY. Employees who meet the following criteria may apply:
- You are requesting a transfer under Article 4.7 of the WFSE CBA.
- You are a permanent DOC employee.
- You currently hold permanent status in the class being recruited for in this job posting.
- You are currently in a position represented by WFSE.
In addition to the above requirements for WFSE CBA Article 4.7 transfer requests, this position has the following requirements:
- Apply, obtain/maintain Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor registration per RCW 18.19.030 within 30 days of hire.
- An agency affiliated counselor may only provide counseling services as part of his or her employment for a recognized agency. Applicants for an agency affiliated counselor credential who apply within 30 days of employment may provide services within the agency for up to 6090 days while the Department of Health processes your application.
- AND
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a behavioral science (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or closely related field) from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or CHEA, or foreign equivalent.
- NOTE:
(a) WAC 388-60B-0210 – exception or waiver from education compliance may be granted if not violating laws; (b) to qualify for an exception, the employee must possess year-for-year professional level experience equivalent to a related bachelor’s degree, as determined by the DSHS program manager. - AND
- Two (2) years of demonstrated experience providing individual or group domestic violence intervention treatment, mental health treatment, chemical dependency treatment, or sex offense treatment. Demonstrated experience must include six (6) months of group treatment/therapy experience.
- NOTE:
A Master’s degree in a behavioral science may substitute for one year of the required experience. - Additional clarification:
Work experience in group treatment/therapy includes planning, program implementation, and direct client treatment services; this may be gained during master’s program internships. - NOTE:
Licensure as a Psychologist, Social Worker or Mental Health Counselor may be substituted for the Affiliated Counselor registration. Maintain continuing education and stay updated with licensure/registration requirements.

Note, per the CBA: if you request a transfer under Article 4.7 and you refuse the offer, you cannot request another Article 4.7 transfer for 12 months. If you have accepted a transfer under Article 4.7 you are not eligible to request another transfer under this Article for 24 months.
