Responsibilities- Plan and create technical designs for telecom infrastructure, including fibre-optic systems, copper OSP networks, wireless technologies, structured cabling, and supporting components.
- Produce comprehensive engineering deliverables such as build drawings, splice documentation, bills of materials, equipment specifications, and testing records.
- Perform field assessments, feasibility reviews, network analysis, and system inspections to identify the best engineering solutions.
- Provide subject-matter guidance through every phase of a project, from initial planning and design to installation oversight, system testing, and project completion.
- Work closely with project leads, field teams, customers, and suppliers to maintain technical accuracy and ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Diagnose and resolve advanced issues related to cable systems, networking performance, and infrastructure functionality.
- Make certain that all work aligns with applicable codes and industry standards (such as NEC, BICSI, TIA/EIA), as well as internal quality and safety policies.
- Coach and support less experienced designers, engineers, and technicians, contributing to training and development efforts.
- Check engineering documents to confirm they are complete, technically correct, and meet required quality levels.
- Assist with preparing bid responses, cost projections, and technical write-ups when required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related discipline, or comparable experience gained through professional work.
- Extensive experience in telecom engineering or designing network infrastructure.li>
- Deep understanding of fibre-optic engineering practices, outside plant design methodologies, and structured cabling standards.
- Skilled in the use of engineering and design software such as AutoCAD, GIS-based platforms, and other OSP design applications.
- Proven track record of overseeing complex technical initiatives and collaborating effectively with diverse project teams.
- Strong analytical abilities combined with clear communication and effective problem-solving skills.li>
- Shows leadership ability and a willingness to guide and develop other team members.
