GFT is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Tacoma, WA. • Understands client requirements as they relate to the mechanical scope of work; aligns and develops detailed design documents including drawings, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and calculations.
• Performs or directs junior staff to perform mechanical engineering calculations (e.g. heat load calculations, fan and pump friction loss calculations).
• Models or directs junior staff to model systems in Revit or AutoCAD. Co‑ordinates with the client, the project team, and other disciplines to design full mechanical systems.
• Evaluates vendor submissions to assure compliance with contract documents.
• Consults with construction personnel concerning field conditions, sequencing, and scheduling of activities.
• Reviews and responds to contractor submittals and requests for information.
• Performs site observations and collects field data.
• Provides assistance to or leads proposal teams.
• Mentors technical designers.
• Able to work in multidisciplinary teams and lead tasks and simple project teams.
• As an originator of documents, ensure that production of drawings and specifications meets the scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements and satisfies federal, state, and local requirements.

• BS in Mechanical Engineering/BAE in Architectural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) License or E.I.T. is desired but not a requirement.
• 4+ years of applicable experience.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
• Expertise with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Specialized experience in advanced software applications is desirable.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Some experience with management of small work groups and project tasks.

The salary range for this role is $90,000-$110,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
