Position Summary

The Energy Auditor II is responsible for providing services directly to small business tenants, building owners, and other utility customers. You will advise and coordinate for our programs, recommend modifications to electric and/or gas systems, and provide exceptional customer service. This role includes conducting walk-through energy efficiency assessments, installing energy efficiency equipment and products, and increasing customer awareness and participation in rebates and utility energy efficiency programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote the energy efficiency program to customers through scheduled energy assessments
  • Work with building owners and property managers to provide energy efficiency advice and assistance in participating in energy efficiency programs
  • Deliver professional, high-quality services to utility customers
  • Complete walk-through energy assessments identifying key natural gas and electric saving opportunities (living spaces, basement, attic, exterior perimeter)
  • Install energy-saving devices including energy efficiency lighting, programmable thermostats, and hot water saving devices
  • Explain and articulate energy assessment findings to building owners, including rebates
  • Develop understanding of the program's strategic direction and customer business activities
  • Identify on-site opportunities for energy efficiency and provide follow-up to customers as required
  • Continuously drive improvements in quality, customer satisfaction, and productivity
  • Mentor new Energy Specialists and conduct field training sessions
  • Assist in the resolution of escalations and service calls to client satisfaction
  • Lead retraining and ride-alongs as directed to improve performance
  • Assist the Field Supervisor in creating program performance reports
  • Discuss technical elements of energy-consuming equipment (lighting, HVAC, hot water systems, insulation, air sealing)
  • Enter data into spreadsheets/databases to determine energy savings and manage projects
  • Maintain professional appearance appropriate for a representative of the organization and the utility
  • Build rapport with customers and discuss energy usage on-site
  • Provide written summary reports to customers and to the Program Manager
  • Work in a team environment and contribute to continuous improvement
  • Lead presentations promoting energy efficiency programs for targeted groups
  • Perform direct installation of faucet aerators, LED lamps, and other measures in qualified facilities
  • Conduct inventory counts and submit inventory reports
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouses and fleet vehicle areas
  • Ensure fleet vehicles have safety products and are kept clean and orderly
  • Perform routine vehicle safety inspections and report results
  • All other duties as assigned
Position Requirements

Education and Experience
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience
  • 1 year of experience as an Energy Auditor I or equivalent
  • One of the following:
    Residential building construction;
    Heating and cooling system install, sales, or service;
    Energy efficiency designations or certificates including Advanced Home Energy Professional (HEP), Building Analyst, Envelope Professional, or related credentials
  • BPI Fundamentals or above is required
  • Two years of previous related work experience
  • 1–2 years of experience in marketing, community organizing, or related field (preferred)
  • Other experience may be required based on program guidelines
