Appointment:

One-year visiting instructor in Hispanic Studies for the  academic year.

Responsibilities:

Teach six courses for the year (3/3), which will consist primarily of introductory-level Spanish language courses.

Qualifications:

A master's degree in Spanish. Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate Spanish language courses and a commitment to liberal arts education are required. Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and proficiency in English.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Faculty salaries at the University of Puget Sound are based on a common salary scale based on experience. Instructor salaries in  begin at $58,311 annually for a level 1 in their first year of full-time post-graduate teaching through $95,416 for a level 17 with 25 or more years of full-time post-graduate teaching.

About the Department:

The Department of Hispanic Studies offers a sound educational experience centered on the study of the language as well as the literary and cultural production of Iberian, Latin American, and U.S. Latina/o cultures. We offer three major tracks in Language, Culture & Literature, Hispanic International Studies, and Latina/o Studies, along with a minor in Spanish and an interdisciplinary minor in Latina/o Studies.

We complement our program of study with a host of co-curricular activities that include guest lectures, film screenings, workshops with artists, and engagement with the local community in Tacoma. Consisting of six full-time colleagues - four tenure-track and two instructors - we are a close-knit group committed to working closely with our students.
