This position is based in Tacoma, WA, and is an on-campus only role only.

Position Summary:
Puget Sound Orientation (Passages) is a critical component of the Logger education, connecting incoming students to academic expectations, co-curricular opportunities, and community values and responsibilities. This position works collaboratively with a variety of departments across campus and agencies within the Tacoma community to create and implement this program.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
* Program Development and Implementation
* Responsible for ensuring that the Puget Sound Passages program provides a successful transition for first year students, as well as transfer students, to the Puget Sound community - academic and co-curricular
* Manage the operational and planning details of Passages, including leadership of the Orientation Planning Committee
* Coordinate the integration of challenge, comfort, and connect in all aspects of the Passages program
* Partner and collaborate with the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity to create opportunities in Passages that support institutional student success goals
* Manage all logistics and schedules for each component of the Orientation program as it pertains to the new students' schedules
* Engage with university departments and student organizations to ensure a range of programs and services are offered throughout Orientation
* Collaborate with the Associate Director of Student Involvement, and the Assistant Director of Student Involvement, and the Club Coordinator to implement Passages Program
* Partner and collaborate with the Enrollment Management to create seamless welcome of incoming students
* Manage and implement Divisional Communications and Promotions student staff team and strategic promotions plan
* Manage and implement spring semester Passages for transfer and mid-year first-year students
* Support and develop programs to enhance the first year experience
* Administration
* Oversee Passages web site
* Manage Passages registration system for scheduling students for Passages
* Manage and ensure accountability of the Orientation budget
* Manage and ensure accountability of the Leadership budget
* Complete full assessment of program on a yearly basis; make changes as necessary
* Maintain online orientation preferences
* Staff Supervision
* Hire, train, and supervise Assistant Director of Student Involvement
* Hire, train and supervise the Club Coordinator
* Hire, train and supervise the Associate Director of Student Involvement
* Hire, train, and supervise five Orientation coordinators, one Communications Coordinator, one Social Media Specialist, one videographer, and more than 60 Orientation leaders
* Other duties
* Serve on campus and division committees as necessary
* Assist in providing risk mitigation oversight for multiple activities, programs, and events

Qualifications:
* Master's Degree in Student Development Administration, Student Personnel, Higher Education, Leadership Programs or related field and 5 years of Student Affairs experience
* Experience in designing and implementing large scale events
* Ability to respectfully work, communicate, and provide leadership within a diverse campus community
* Ability to speak and present in front of groups
* Create and maintain intra-divisional collaboration
* Ability to think and plan creatively
* Ability to manage multiple tasks
* Knowledge of word processing and desktop publishing
* Ability to create and maintain websites
* Knowledge of University data base management and mainframe programs
* Ability to develop training and educational programs
* Ability to work flexible hours and weekends
* Ability to relate to diverse constituencies

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will be hired between $32.20 to $34.55 per hour. The rate for an experienced employee in this role may go up to $36.90 per hour, and the starting salary will be based on experience level. Decisions about starting salaries are made based on the extent and relatedness of the candidate's education and experience and on internal equity and market considerations.
