Range: $71,755 (BA+0 step
1) through $140,729 (MA+90 step 20)

Additional Information:
This position requires a valid WA State teaching certificate endorsed in Special Education K-12 or P-12. This position will work with students in the Transition Program. These students are aged 18-21. This position will also work individually on a case-by-case basis with specific student(s) to meet their needs in support of IAES program.

Job Summary / Responsibilities

This position plans, organizes and provides students with disabilities ages 16-22 transitioning to and those currently in transition programming with appropriate learning activities, experiences and learning environments designed to develop focused and individualized transition skills. Supports the School/Building, School Board, District and State curriculum, policies, and initiatives for student achievement.

  • Develops, plans and strategizes a program of study based on the learning needs of students and meets individual needs, interests and abilities; employs a variety of instructional techniques and media to engage students in alignment with transition plans and individual skillsets.
  • Analyzes current and future interns work experience, performance and preferences indicated on assessments and other factors to inform specially designed instruction; provides progress reports; maintains and issues appropriate grades; refers students for evaluation; provides guidance promoting welfare, educational development and citizenship.
  • Implements pedagogical content knowledge and supports district policies; develops rules of learning environment behavior; encourages standards of learning environment behavior; participates in planning and evaluation of the school program and curriculum development.
  • Develops learning norms; prepares differentiated instruction; conducts job skill training and provides individualized/supplemental training to reduce employment barriers; assists students with job acquisition skills and applications.
  • Establishes and maintains communication with students, parents, colleagues and community; conducts conferences and meetings; fosters outreach and collaboration with community partners.
  • Maintains records as required; uses formative and summative data to plan and adjust instruction; uses state-approved rubrics for tracking growth.
  • Protects students and property; supervises students in various settings; facilitates access to community and district resources to enhance learning and effectiveness.

  • Maintains knowledge and skills through professional development; attends staff meetings and serves on committees; supervises staff as required.
  • Develops professional relationships; collaborates with peers and administrators; adheres to district policies; supports development of new teachers and student teachers.
  • Maintains updated curriculum resources and adjusts instructional plans as needed.
  • Performs related duties as assigned; maintains regular attendance; collaborates with program administrator to place participants; leads transition planning with high school case managers, families and students.
  • Plans community outings with students using public transportation; completes Special Education Case Management for students aged 18-22; collaborates with agencies linked to transition services.
Conditions

Confined to work area; may require substitute coverage; may work with difficult or sensitive situations; may be exposed to inclement weather, high noise levels, travel to community sites; may lift up to 20 pounds and be mobile.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with appropriate educational endorsement; or any combination of experience and training providing the required knowledge, skills and ability.
