Visiting Assistant Professor - History of Science, Technology, and/or Medicine

The University of Puget Sound invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor in the Science, Technology, Health and Society (STHS) Program, starting in Fall 2026. This is a nonrenewable one-year position.
Responsibilities- The STHS program seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2026-27 academic year. Excellence in teaching is highly valued; candidates should have genuine interest and enthusiasm for teaching.
- The successful candidate will teach six courses over the academic year including STHS 200 History of Modern Science and Technology. Preference for candidates with expertise in the history of the physical sciences, the history of technology, and/or the history of medicine and public health in the modern era.
- In addition to STHS 200, the candidate will teach two upper-level courses on (1) scientific biography and (2) science and politics, as well as at least one course in their area of expertise that serves Puget Sound's core curriculum.
We invite applications from scholars with a Ph.D. (or those who will have their Ph.D. in hand by July 1, 2026) in the history of science, technology and/or medicine.

Compensation And BenefitsRank:
Visiting Assistant Professor. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Faculty salaries are based on a common salary scale; starting at $74,404 annualized for an assistant professor with a terminal degree in their field in their first year of full-time post-doctorate teaching, up to $83,262 annualized based on experience.
