Position Overview
Visiting Assistant Professor in Biology at the University of Puget Sound, teaching introductory biology (BIOL 111) and a genetics laboratory (BIOL 213) for the 2026‑2027 academic year. 1‑year appointment starting Fall 2026.
Responsibilities- Teach BIOL 111 (Unity of Life) in both Fall 2026 and Spring 2027, including lecture and laboratory sections.
- Teach a laboratory section for Genetics (BIOL 213) with provided curriculum.
- Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate course sections and labs.
- Engage in professional development and, if interested, develop undergraduate research activities with modest funds and museum resources.
- Ph.D. in Biology or related discipline (ABD considered).
- Strong teaching experience or interest in introductory biology.
- Background in cellular, molecular, developmental, or biochemical topics.
- Commitment to inclusive, supportive learning environments.
- No research expectation, but optional undergraduate research collaboration is available.

Compensation and BenefitsFaculty salary commensurate with experience. Assistant Professor salaries for 2025‑2026 begin at $73,904 and increase to $83,262 based on experience. Puget Sound offers a generous benefits package.
