Appointment DetailsThe University of Puget Sound invites applications for a one‑year Visiting Assistant Professor in the Science, Technology, Health and Society (STHS) Program, starting in Fall 2026. This is a nonrenewable one‑year position.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will teach six courses over the academic year, including STHS 200 History of Modern Science and Technology. We prefer candidates with expertise in the history of the physical sciences, the history of technology, and/or the history of medicine and public health in the modern era. In addition to STHS 200, the candidate will teach two upper‑level courses—one on scientific biography and one on science and politics—as well as at least one course in their area of expertise that serves Puget Sound’s core curriculum.
Qualifications- Ph.D. (or expected Ph.D. by July 1, 2026) in the history of science, technology, and/or medicine.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and a genuine interest in undergraduate education.
- Relevant scholarly research and publication record.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Assistant Professor salaries in begin at $74,404 annualized for a first‑year full‑time post‑doctoral teaching assistant professor and rise with experience up to $83,262 annualized.
