Part‑time faculty positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter‑by‑quarter basis. Individuals who apply to the applicant pool are considered active for a period of 12 months from the application date and may be contacted when vacancies occur. Position HighlightsThis position is responsible for preparing and teaching the College Success course (formerly HD 101) offered at Tacoma Community College as a stand‑alone course or as part of a learning community. The position will support the ongoing programs within Tacoma Community College's Exploratory Experience, part of our Guided Pathways work. EssentialFunctions
- Prepare, teach, and assess outcomes in TCC's College Success Course
- Assess student learning and use data to improve teaching and learning
- Participate in the development and review of curriculum
- Maintain current knowledge in the field of college success and culturally responsive pedagogy
- Perform related duties as assigned
- Master's degree in Adult Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Advising, Developmental Studies, Education or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
- Or Bachelor's degree and at least two years’ experience with community college advising / case management.
- Successfully complete a criminal history background check prior to employment.
- Ethics and integrity, and sound professional judgment.
- Knowledge of and interest in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
- Graduate coursework in college success, counseling and advising, developmental studies, or educational theories and practices.
- Student‑centered classroom teaching experience or equivalent experience working with students.
- Interest in teaching in learning communities, team teaching, teaching cross‑disciplinary courses, or other cohort‑centered academic environments.
- Some experience developing and teaching in an online environment (including full online, hybrid, or web‑enhanced).
- Commitment to working with first‑generation and other under‑represented groups.
- Efforts in curriculum design, pedagogy, and assessment that foreground anti‑racist and culturally responsive practices.
- Dynamic, non‑traditional delivery methods to teach students of widely varying levels of proficiency and from diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles.
