Physician - Pediatric Imaging Cardiology .70 FTE, Days, M-F Salary Min $352,800 - Salary Max $520,800 based on a .70 FTE

Position Summary

The Division Director - Pediatric & Congenital Cardiology provides leadership in the clinical, operational, and financial success of the Heart Center within Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Network (MBCHHN). The Division Director - Pediatric & Congenital Cardiology partners with the EMD - Heart Center and Heart Center administrative leadership and drives the strategic growth of all components of pediatric and congenital cardiology.

The Division Director, in partnership with the administrative leadership and cardiac surgery co‑chairs, directs the programs and strategies resulting in successful health outcomes, patient experience, medical cost efficiency, productivity, and creating a workplace of choice to achieve high‑performing high‑value care. The Division Director collaborates with ambulatory and hospital leadership to implement Heart Center strategies and program initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Clinical oversight:
    Ensure the quality of patient care and adherence to clinical guidelines and protocols as well as ensuring there is 24/7 hospital coverage in accordance with the bylaws.
  • Directs the professional medical care rendered by all interventional, adult congenital, imaging, and other cardiologists and electrophysiologist physicians and APPs in the Heart Center in accordance with established Medical Staff Bylaws; all Department Rules and Regulations; and Hospital/Outpatient Surgery policies and procedures specific to ambulatory care.
  • Performance Management:
    Provide guidance and support to physicians and APPs, mentorship to new physicians/APPs, and promotes a culture of collaboration and excellence. Evaluate and manage the performance of section heads, addressing issues of clinic productivity, patient satisfaction, and professional development. Addresses HeROs submitted with the section heads concerns and supports improvement and accountability.
  • Actively participates in the development, maintenance and periodic review of policies, procedures and protocols within the subspecialty ensuring evidence‑based care of inpatients and outpatients.
  • Participates in clinical practice guideline, pathway, protocol, and order set development.
  • Assists as needed with the resolution of patient care problems such as, but without limitation, patient access to care, emergencies and professional medical disputes involving patient care.
  • Plays a key role in quality improvement and utilization management activities related to patients receiving cardiology care services from the Heart Center in all settings (ambulatory, emergency, inpatient ward, pediatric and neonatal ICU, operating room, and catheterization suite) including those in the adult congenital population.
  • Attends and participates in such Hospital and Medical Staff Committees as necessary to carry out the duties as Medical Director, including Pediatric cardiology collaborative meetings, monthly Pediatric Cardiology combined operations meetings, Pediatric Cardiology sub‑committees, medicine, surgery, and perioperative service committees.
  • Participates in peer review and selection process of new physicians as requested.
  • Provides education and training of physicians, staff, and students.
  • Supports and participates in activities to ensure compliance with meaningful use requirements and patient electronic medical records.
  • Oversees the process of cardiology care delivery and transition of care.
  • Assures the adequate coverage of pediatric and adult congenital cardiology services.
