Who We Are

Priority Consideration Date:
February 22, 2026

Tacoma Community College (TCC), an anchor institution in the City of Tacoma, is seeking a highly collaborative, production-driven and community-oriented team member to join the TCC College Relations team and lead two dynamic community initiatives: the Tacoma Anchor Network (TAN) and the Tacoma Community Safety Collaborative (TCSC).

Background

Tacoma Anchor Network

TAN is a network of anchor-based institutions in Tacoma, Wash., which leverages institutional assets to address economic, social and racial inequities. The group comprises 30 organizations with more than 100 participants who work to keep resources circulating locally and ensure people who live here can find jobs and all people who work here can afford to live here. TAN's mission is to:

  • Increase contract and procurement spending with local businesses, with an emphasis on minority- and women-owned businesses;
  • Increase the number of living wage jobs available to Tacoma residents in key industries, and increase access to those jobs by removing systemic barriers;
  • Increase the amount of place-based investment that focuses on social and economic disparities in Tacoma; and
  • Advance policy at a local, regional, and state level that enables anchor institutions to more effectively use their economic resources to meet needs identified by residents.

The group meets bimonthly, including at least two in-person meetings each year.

Tacoma Community Safety Collaborative

TCSC is a community partnership that seeks to reduce crime in our community. By using data to inform our decisions, the Collaborative looks at external factors and patterns (not people) to develop community-driven solutions for crime reduction. The TCSC is comprised of community-based organizations, government agencies, higher education and K-12 institutions and more. This is a newly formed Collaborative that is gaining momentum in our community.

The Collaborative meets quarterly.

Position Description

TCC is seeking an energetic, highly organized individual for a 12-month temporary appointment (January 2026-December 2026), with the possibility of an extension. This is a full-time, exempt position that will report to the TCC Vice President of College Relations. This position serves as the point of contact for both initiatives, coordinating communications, meetings, events and outreach. As a largely remote role, it offers flexibility and chance to make a meaningful contribution toward advancing the goals of TAN and TCSC, strengthening Tacoma as a great place to live and work.

This is an exciting opportunity for a natural connector and problem-solver who thrives in collaborative, fast-paced environments.
