Service Writer/Fleet Assistant

This position requires organization, timeliness, accuracy, great focus to detail and safety. Previous Service Writer/Fleet Experience required.

$18.00/hr - $25.00/hr

• Schedule and ensure that SCI shops are maintaining the flat rate percentage of 75%. Training, motivating, and taking out roadblocks to ensure goal is met.
• Oversee parts inventory in SCI shop locations. Assure that inventory levels are correct at all times.
• Report to Fleet Manager any changes needed in stocked items.
• Oversee pool equipment operations in SCI shops. Responsible for ensuring all SCI equipment is accounted for at all times. Supervise the check‑in/check‑out system to maintain full compliance.
• Understand and maintain vehicle/equipment maintenance schedules in fleet management software. Make sure schedules are updated properly, used by SCI shop personnel, troubleshoot system, and make any changes or improvements as needed in conjunction with the Fleet Manager. Pull scheduled service information, put together in the appropriate format and implement these schedules following SCI procedures and run an accurate database on this information.
• Schedule and line out work orders for shops.
• Emergency or field repairs – schedule emergency field repairs for welders.
• Daily review job for quality and problems – revise work schedule accordingly for SCI shops as needed.
• Hold safety meetings with shop personnel.
• Update the Fleet Manager on crew's needs, progress, etc.

• Ability to use basic math skills to compute measurements, timecards, etc.
• Inventory management.
• Ability to read and interpret documents: safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, work orders, quotes, etc.
• Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, work orders, etc.
• Ability to create necessary fleet reporting spreadsheets.

• Prior service writing experience a plus.
• Great computer skills including Microsoft Suite.
• Ability to speak effectively in front of groups.
• Must be organized, multi‑tasked oriented, and maintain a neat and safe work environment.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• A positive can‑do attitude and openness to trying things new ways.

Daily and exemplary attendance and punctuality is required. The work may require overtime hours to be worked to achieve desired results.
