Maintenance Technician I

The Maintenance Technician I supports Fed Ex Industrial Maintenance for material handling, performing preventative and predictive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of mechanical power transmission, electrical, PLC/controls, welding/fabrication, and other industrial systems.

• Provide basic preventative and predictive maintenance and repair of material handling systems, primarily in mechanical power transmission.
• Diagnose simple mechanical power transmission issues at the single component level.
• Adhere to safety standards and promote a safe work environment through meetings, training, and addressing concerns.
• Work under supervision for preventive/corrective maintenance tasks.
• Participate in small scope projects.
• Work flexible schedule, including all days and shifts as business needs dictate.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Mechanical: Identify a failed bearing or gearbox on a conveyor and repair it; lace and track a conveyor belt; read mechanical drawings and manufacturer manuals.
• Electrical: Use a digital
  
  GY multimeter on AC/DC voltage and continuity to find failed relays, contractors, or photoeyes; read electrical drawings/schematics and manufacturer manuals.
• PLC/Controls: Identify PLC components.
• Welding / Fabrication: Perform MIG or stick welding.

• High School Diploma or GED with minimum skill requirements.

• Demonstrated basic mechanical aptitude through background or hobbies in agriculture, automotive, or other technical areas.
• Two (2) years of Fed Ex operations sortation equipment knowledge considered; or enrollment in a certificate or degree program in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
• Related military technical experience and electrical or mechanical trade experience considered.

• Possess basic mechanical aptitude.
• Basic electrical and mechanical skills preferred.
• Ability to solve simple mechanical or electrical problems, including basic engineering formulas.
• Excellent verbal and written communication within department, peers, managers, and vendors.
• Follow detailed instructions.
• Software skills:
  Microsoft Office Suite and web‑based applications.
• Time‑management and organizational skills.

• Use hand and power tools.
• Work in hot or cold temperatures.
• Stand, walk, bend, stoop, and squat frequently.

• Additional skills or certifications in PLC/controls, welding, or fabrication.

Pay Range: $20.35 - $31.73 per hour

Hiring for a part‑time Maintenance Technician position (Fri – Mon schedule).
