The Facilities Services Maintenance Mechanic provides maintenance services and ensures completion of assigned work order projects, performing skilled maintenance activities across carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, alarms, fire systems, medical gas, generator, and computer monitoring systems.

• High School graduate or recognized equivalent plus formal trade/vocational training or five (5) years related experience. Completion of apprenticeship program preferred.
• Participates in orientation and continuing education to maintain knowledge and skills. Completes population‑specific competency annually.

• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a millwright, steamfitter, plumber, HVAC or tradesman in a commercial, industrial or healthcare setting.
• Working knowledge of computer skills and Microsoft Outlook, Building Management Systems, and modern Nurse Call systems. Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and refrigeration. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and prepare material takeoffs.
• Ability to use standard hand tools, machinery and equipment plus precision measuring tools.
• Must be able to complete rotating shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.

Industrial setting:
Clinical setting occasionally. Exposure Class I. Routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions or secretions. Intermittent to regular exposure to unpleasant physical conditions, including but not limited to high temperatures, outdoor weather, hand tools, power tools, machinery, confined space entry, and cleaning solutions.

• Provides emergency response to all hospital mechanical systems as required
• Performs general plumbing functions
• Performs general HVAC functions
• Performs routine preventive maintenance and repair on all utility systems
• Supports construction/renovation project installations as assigned
• Performs general cleaning of maintenance areas and mechanical rooms
• Works efficiently and completes assigned tasks in a timely manner
• Projects a positive and professional image of self and the hospital
• Performs general maintenance functions (e.g., updating work orders, service calls)
• Understands and has a working knowledge of the DDC system, Pevco tube system, medical gas alarm panels, fire systems
• Analyzes blueprints, schematics, and drawings to determine efficient installation of new or upgraded systems
• Performs a variety of skilled trade functions (plumbing, painting, HVAC, carpentry, etc.) for projects within established time frames
• Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs refrigeration systems (ice machines, coolers, refrigerators)
• Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
• Maintains and operates power tools (drains, pipe threaders, drills, etc.)
• Installs plumbing systems (water and sanitary piping)
• Replaces and roughs in water closets, sinks, and showers

$22.65 – $30.74 per hour; pay based on experience, skills, and education.
