Position Description:
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Kitchen Assistant supports Samaritan’s meal operations and supervises volunteers to create quality meals for guests while managing budgeted food, labor, and operating costs. The Kitchen Assistant fosters positive relationships with guests to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for both guests and volunteers.
Responsibilities:
Knowledge and Skills:
- At least 1 year of experience in large-volume cooking.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to assess freshness and seasoning by smell and taste.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to educate, motivate, and inspire others.
- Dedication to the mission of the Samaritan Center and empathy for those in need.
- General mechanical aptitude.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including holidays, mornings, and weekends.
- Ability to stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist regularly.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
