Job Description
Exercise judgment to comply with instructions and established procedures and to make decisions in the day-to-day operation of a snack bar.
Education and Experience- High school education or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
- At least 18 months of food handling, short order cooking, or related experience.
- The ability to read, write and follow instruction is necessary.
- The ability to count cash, make change and communicate well with the public.
- At least one year of cash handling experience.
- Take between 300-1200 customer orders daily and serve them.
- Use POS terminal to add cost of food, collect money and make change.
- Prepare a variety of simple foods including French fries, hamburgers, hot dogs, soups, sandwiches, etc.
- Prepare and dispense coffee, tea and other beverages.
- Wash dishes, cooking utensils, counter space, etc.
- Observe safety and health regulations and maintain highest standards of sanitation.
- Operate independently and without direct supervision to determine quantities of food and beverages needed.
- Maintain records such as number and dollar volume of sales, daily time record of hours worked, etc.
- Balance and reconcile cash to cash register tapes.
- Balance safe (petty cash) daily.
- Instruct and assign helpers and student staff.
- Forecast and determine weekly order based upon established menus and customer count history. Place orders with food vendors.
- Take weekly inventory of products.
- Standing 85% – 100% of the shift
- Frequent bending at the waist; able to bend to below the knee
- Frequent stooping and/or crouching
- Frequent walking back and forth throughout the counter area and stock room and food service areas
- Frequent twisting and bending of head, neck, and torso
- Full range of arm movement (extension, twisting, and bending of arm and shoulder, reaching overhead, stirring and mixing, wiping, etc.)
- Wrist and finger dexterity (i.e. ability to use tongs, scissors)
- Able to lift up to 50lbs from the floor to waist height
- Able to lift up to 30 lbs. overhead
- Able to push and pull up to 250 lbs.
- Listening to and responding to customer and staff inquiries
- Visual and cognitive capability sufficient to read and follow instructions, recipes etc.
- Operate a variety of equipment, including a computerized POS terminal, food slicer, grill, deep fryer, convention oven, steamer, dish washer, etc.
