St. Joseph’s Hospital – Integrated Medical Oncology & Complex Care Unit. St. Joseph’s is bringing together the strengths of two exceptional care teams—Oncology and Hospitalist/Complex Medical Care into one dynamic and collaborative inpatient unit. This newly integrated unit offers diverse learning opportunities, exposure to complex medical treatments, and strong ongoing support from engaged leadership.

Clinical Focus Areas Oncology & Chemotherapy- Care for patients receiving cancer treatment, including chemotherapy and palliative care
- Oncology nurse education and chemotherapy-specific training provided
- Opportunities to build expertise with complex oncology protocols
- Treat a wide range of acute medical and respiratory conditions
- Provide care for patients admitted to the hospitalist service
- Manage complex and rapidly changing clinical needs
- Support long-term ventilated patients
- Specialized training in ventilator management and class I telemetry
- Work closely with charge nurses, respiratory therapists, and virtual nursing support

- Collaborate, communicate, and facilitate optimal provision of care; participate in direct care of patients and families.
- Assess, plan, implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate the patient’s plan of care from admission to discharge.
- Provide quality holistic nursing interventions, med/surg care, telemetry monitoring, chemotherapy administration, respiratory support, and critical thinking.
- Collaborative team approach: SNAP rounding daily with interdisciplinary team including physicians, clinical affiliates, social work, care managers, nutrition, rehab services, spiritual care, and pharmacy.
- Ensure nursing care aligns with the New York Nurse Practice Act, national standards, and department standards of care.
- Ensure seamless, effective transitions of care across the continuum.
- Monitor quality metrics and ensure complete and accurate documentation in the patient record.
- Act as mentor, clinician, educator, consultant/collaborator, and navigator.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure in the State of New York.
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school preferred according to NYS requirements.
- One-year Med/Surg or Critical Care experience.
- Graduate Nurse (GN) or RN with less than 1 year of experience should apply to Graduate Nurse Residency positions.
- Specialty credentialing and educational degree according to clinical nursing practice area preferred.
- Maintains licensure and certifications according to NYS regulations and specialty requirements.
- Participation in continuing education to maintain knowledge and skills.

Pay Range: $37.60 - $58.35 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under FLSA will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may vary based on location.
