Position Overview
The Pediatric PACU Registered Nurse provides specialized pre-operative and post-anesthesia care for pediatric patients in a high-acuity recovery setting. This role requires strong pediatric critical care experience and the ability to function independently with minimal orientation.
Shift & Scheduling Details
- Combination of day and evening shifts within the same pay period
- 8 shifts every 2 weeks (10-hour shifts)
- Some weekend coverage required
- No block scheduling
- Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care to pediatric patients in the PACU setting
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments in an acute care environment
- Monitor post-anesthesia recovery and respond to changes in patient condition
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care with minimal supervision
- Communicate effectively with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Document care accurately according to professional and regulatory standards
- Active New York State RN license
- BLS certification (must be current and maintain recertification)
- Minimum 1.5 years of recent acute care experience (within the past 2 years)
- Pediatric critical care experience required
- PACU experience preferred
- Experience in hospitals of equal or greater size or trauma center environments (required for travelers)
- EPIC Electronic Medical Records experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced pediatric recovery environment
