** About Unit 3-1*
* Our General, Urology, and Colorectal Surgery unit is a fast-paced, patient-focused surgical unit specializing in care for individuals undergoing general, urologic, and colorectal procedures, as well as patients with renal disease, including peritoneal dialysis (PD) at the bedside.

This is a  
** Telemetry Class 2 floor** , providing continuous cardiac monitoring as needed. Most patients are post-operative surgical cases arriving from PACU, with some direct admits from surgeons' offices or the ED.

** Common Interventions include:*
* + Drain and wound management

+ Wound vacs, G-tubes, J-tubes

+ Ostomies and urostomies

+ Peritoneal dialysis

+ Continuous bladder irrigation

+ Occasional chest tubes

** Position Purpose*
* As an  
** RN Leader** , you will provide clinical leadership and operational oversight for Unit 3-1. You will ensure high-quality, evidence-based care delivery, mentor nursing staff, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes and a seamless experience.

** What You Will Do*
* + Supervise and support nursing staff in daily operations, ensuring compliance with NYS regulations and national standards of practice.

+ Coordinate staffing, assignments, and workflow to maintain safe patient ratios.

+ Serve as a mentor, educator, and resource for clinical decision-making and professional development.

+ Facilitate communication between staff, physicians, and leadership to resolve issues promptly.

+ Monitor quality metrics and implement process improvements for patient safety and satisfaction.

+ Participate in performance evaluations and contribute to staff development plans.

** Specialized Training*
* + Core EKG and Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) classes

+ Leadership and management development programs

+ Additional specialty education based on unit needs

** Minimum Qualifications*
* + Graduate of an accredited nursing program

+ Current NYS RN license

+ Minimum  
** 2 years of acute care experience** ; prior leadership experience preferred

+ Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills

+ Commitment to continuing education and maintaining licensure
