Shift: Night Shift | 3×12 Hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical) provides comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in an acute care medical-surgical setting. This role requires strong clinical judgment, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple patient assignments during night shifts. The RN will deliver evidence-based care while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered nursing care in a Medical-Surgical unit
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing monitoring
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and protocols
- Manage patient assignments with a typical night shift ratio of 1:5 to 1:6
- Utilize EPIC Electronic Medical Records for documentation and care coordination
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams
- Float to other units within scope of practice based on patient care needs and leadership discretion
- Adhere to infection prevention, safety standards, and hospital policies
- Active New York State RN License
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care hospital nursing experience
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Willingness to float within scope of practice as needed
- ACLS (AHA) certification
- Experience working night shifts in high-acuity Med Surg units
